Leaning into Complexity (2025)

Leaning into Complexity” is an accessible video essay exploring how we can integrate complexity into the way we think, design, and organize society. Drawing on biomimicry and Life’s 4 billion years of experience, the video examines nature’s inherent tendency toward complexity and diversity, and what it might mean to embrace that tendency collectively.

Bridging fields from regenerative agriculture to urban planning, and weaving in sociological ideas such as acculturation and language diversity, the essay synthesizes systems across scales to reveal patterns we can learn from. The result is an invitation to rethink how we design our world toward futures that are more resilient, adaptive, and harmonious.
